(ser para dentro) // (being to the inside)
frozen sea water, mussel shells, seaweed, salt, sand
variable dimensions
2019/2020
This work was made during quarantine. Bringing again the concept of misplace, I focused on the text that I wrote, in a part that said "I also think I am to the inside". I wanted to represent this feeling of being inside, in a moment that I felt more introspective than ever. I collected seawater and froze it, together with other elements from the sea - mussel shells, sand, and salt. I captured a moment, the concept of being trapped inside (our houses and our heads). I wanted to make a visual poem, one that slowly melts and changes with time, making involuntary and natural sculptures meanwhile. The seawater, when frozen, creates salt crystals that, together with the other natural elements and the curves, makes the pieces look like blurry landscapes.
